KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Western Michigan University head hockey coach Andy Murray says his Broncos face a tough conference-opener this weekend against highly-touted Nebraska-Omaha.
“Depending on the polls you look at, we’ve either got the No. 1 or the No. 2 team coming in,” Murray said. “Nebraska-Omaha has a great team, they return most of their team from last year — a team that was in the national final four tournament.”
Murray also said WMU will play aggressive against a Mavericks team stacked with NHL-caliber talent.
“If you sit back and wait for this team to come at you, they’ve got a lot of great weapons,” Murray said. “We’re going to try to put them under pressure.”
The Broncos were swept on the road last weekend against Clarkson.
Puck-drop for Friday’s game at Lawson Arena is set for 7:05 p.m. It will be broadcast on 96.5 WZOX-FM.
