GRAND RAPIDS (WKZO-AM) — Eight people in west Michigan are facing federal charges for their involvement in regional credit card skimming operations.
Police say they surreptitiously installed card readers into gas pumps all over the southwestern portion of the state, including Mattawan, Kentwood, Battle Creek and nearly a dozen other places.
Several were caught trying to use credit cards they manufactured, attempting to convert them into risk-free Meijer gift cards, WOOD-TV reports.
They are now all charged in federal indictments with wire fraud, conspiracy to commit wire fraud and access device fraud. Many of them come from Florida.
The indictments name Elisabe Hernandez-Perez, Micheles Velasquez-Gregori, Juan Estrada-Galvez, Raul Gonzalez Falcon, Yunier Cudell-Albelo, Yaimari Gonzalez-Santos, Juan Antonio Ledesma, and Manuel Perez-Cabrera.
