KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Criminal charges are now being filed against the man accused of hitting and killing a Western Michigan University student with a vehicle in November, 2021.
According to court records, 20-year-old Hunter Hudgins is facing charges of operating under the influence causing death, a moving violation causing death, and driving drunk while underage.
Hunter struck 19-year-old Western Michigan University Student Bailey Broderick back on November 3, while she was walking off-campus on Fraternity Village Drive.
Officers on scene tried to resuscitate her before she was taken to a nearby hospital where she later died.
Friends and family of Broderick, who was a metro-Detroit native, gathered outside the Kalamazoo County Courthouse at the beginning of April to protest for charges to filed against Hudgins.
An arrest warrant for Hudgins was issued on Wednesday, April 20.
