BATTLE CREEK (WKZO) — We now know why Battle Creek Police and agents from Homeland Security raided the office of a Battle Creek motel on Thursday.
They were looking for evidence that the owner was allegedly running a prostitution ring at the Rodeway Inn on Beckley.
They later raided a Super-8 in Coldwater, which he also manages.
Mehul Patel has now been charged with accepting the earnings from prostitution and maintaining a house of prostitution and is being investigated for fraud. He is reportedly free on bond.
Officers seized paper files and computers from the motels.
