KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Just days after Kalamazoo Prosecutor Jeff Getting announced the officers who shot her brother to death were justified, Michelle Pelletier is scheduled Monday to find out her sentence.
The Pelletier siblings were allegedly defying an eviction notice filed by their mother because they refused to pay rent on the run-down home on Raborn Court she owned. But they were also heavily armed and police were concerned that any attempt to force them out might result in violence.
Those fears came true when an attempt at a traffic stop on Sean and Aaron Pelletier ended in a high-speed chase and a confrontation with officers that left Sean dead and Arron wounded last May.
A few weeks later, it took a police stand-off and tear gas to get Amy and Michelle Pelletier to leave the home after complaints about gun fire.
Michelle Pelletier, 34, was subsequently found guilty on two counts of resisting and obstructing police, a two year felony. Amy Pelletier, 39, faces the same charges, but her prosecution has been delayed by competency exams.
