HARTFORD (WKZO-AM) — Middle and high school students in Hartford are being sent home early after a possible gas leak was discovered in the boiler room of Hartford High School.
The decision was made Tuesday morning.
Utility workers have been called to the scene to try to discover the source. The building will remain closed until they give the all-clear.
The district says transportation home has been arranged for bus students. Students that walked to school will be allowed to head home from the tennis courts of the middle school.
Parents are also being allowed to pick up their children from the tennis courts.
UPDATE 4:19 a.m. Wednesday: A faulty purge valve is being blamed for the leak. The district says the issue has been fixed and school will be back in session Wednesday morning.
