BATTLE CREEK (WKZO-AM) — City commissioners seemed clearly intent on avoiding the four-hour marathon that took over a dozen votes last year to pick their new mayor and vice mayor.
While the vote was still split Tuesday night, a unified majority elected Commissioner Dave Walters to return as mayor. He lost to Deb Owens last year after personally throwing his vote over to Owens to end the deadlock.
This year, Owens returned the favor and nominated Walters.
The same group of commissioners elected Susan Baldwin to be vice mayor.
