HASTINGS, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Western Michigan University’s W-Med Health in Kalamazoo assisted law enforcement officials in identifying a missing Grand Rapids area man who was found dead in Barry County over the weekend.
According to the Barry County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were sent to the area of Ravine Drive north of Middleville on Sunday, April 3, on a report of an unidentified body located in a wooded area, now identified as Darriol Stephens of Wyoming.
Authorities say and expanded area search led to the location of a vehicle about 300 yards from the body. The license plate and the description of the vehicle matched that of the vehicle in the missing person bulletin, issued by the Wyoming Department of Public Safety in December of 2021.
The autopsy, which was conducted at W-Med on Monday, April 4, indicated no signs of foul play and no indicators of self-harm.
A full exam identifying the cause of death is pending.
