SPRINGFIELD, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office says they are investigating a shooting Sunday night in Springfield which left a 25-year-old man with life threatening injuries.
It happened at about 10:00 p.m. in the 400 block of North 25th Street. The Sheriff’s Office says the shooting attracted a large crowd.
While units were responding to the shooting, they got another call for a traffic accident at the intersection of North 20th Street and Avenue A.
One of the persons involved in the accident was identified as the shooting victim who is from the City of Springfield.
After being treated at the scene, the victim was taken to a nearby hospital for further medical attention.
No other victims were located or reported.
The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Battle Creek Police, Michigan State Police, the Springfield Fire Department and LifeCare Ambulance Service.
The investigation into this incident is ongoing. Further investigation at the intersection of North 20th Street and Avenue A will cause the intersection to be closed.
