SPARTA (WKZO-AM) — Police say a former soccer coach at Sparta High School has died from injuries he suffered Tuesday when he was attacked by a bull.
The bull escaped the grasp of handlers while they were trying to load it into a trailer. It ran into a barn, where 60-year-old Thomas Hammond was struck several times in the chest by the frightened animal.
Other employees at Spartan Farms was able to get the bull away from the victim, but it was too late. He died at the scene.
