GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A Kalamazoo County man accused of two bank robberies back in late October of 2021 is now facing federal charges.
34-year-old Matthew Main of Parchment was arraigned on Wednesday, March 30, in Michigan’s Western District of United States District Court in Grand Rapids.
Main was arraigned on one felony count of bank robbery by force or violence and one felony count of bank robbery by force or violence at a credit union. He is accused of taking more than $3,600.00 from Chase Bank at 141 East Michigan Avenue on October 27, and then taking more than $6,300.00 from Community Promise Federal Credit Union at 1313 Portage Street two days later on October 29.
Main allegedly said he had a gun and demanded money from the downtown Chase Bank. He also allegedly said he had bombs and demanded money from the credit union.
Main is currently in federal custody while awaiting a jury trial, which is scheduled for Tuesday, May 31 in Grand Rapids.
