KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — A series of restrictions and budget cuts have reduced funding for food assistance programs, and one of the reasons given is because politicians say people are gaming the system.
But that’s not the case in Kalamazoo County.
The Kalamazoo County office of the Department of Health and Human Services has just been awarded with the SNAP excellence award for 100 percent accuracy and compliance in its food and nutrition services program.
Kalamazoo is one of only two offices in a six-state area to earn the achievement.
