KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – With both college and high school students in attendance, Western Michigan University hosted the annual César Chávez March Thursday.
The event is designed to educate students and the community about the life and legacy of César Chávez, who was a social justice advocate who fought for civil rights of farm and migrant workers.
Normally students would walk in a march starting at Bronson Park, but with Thursday’s rain the march was cancelled and the entire event was held inside WMU’s Bernhard Center.
The keynote address was given by Eduardo Chávez, César Chávez’s grandson.
