BATTLE CREEK (WKZO-AM) — A Calhoun County attorney who served seven years as a county commissioner has formed a campaign committee, and is exploring a run at the Michigan House.
Jim Haadsma would run as a Democrat to challenge Republican House Rep. John Bizon.
MIRS News reports local party officials have been urging Haadsma to run for the 62nd district seat for years. He now says he is seriously considering it.
They say that Bizon’s razor-thin victory over a Democrat two years ago, who was seriously outspent, suggests the incumbent may be vulnerable to a challenge.
Democrats will need to win in the 62nd if they hope to have any chance at all of flipping the seats they need to reclaim the majority in the House next year.
