DEARBORN (WKZO-AM) — The average price for a gallon of gas in Michigan is below $2.
“We’re at $1.99 in the state of Michigan,” AAA spokesperson Susan Hiltz said. “That’s down 24 cents from last week and about 92 cents from last year.”
Hiltz said prices haven’t been this low since January.
“When we hit that mark on New Year’s Day in 2015, we hadn’t seen prices that low in six years,” Hiltz said.
Hiltz says prices are tumbling, in part, because of a glut of cheap crude a strong dollar.
GasBuddy.com says regular is selling for about $1.85 in Kalamazoo.
