KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A Kalamazoo woman accused of stabbing and burning her mother back in February will undergo a mental competency evaluation.
21-year-old Alexis VanDusen was charged with one felony count each assault with intent to murder and unlawful imprisonment in Kalamazoo County District Court.
VanDusen was ordered on Tuesday, March 9th to undergo a mental competency hearing before the case moves forward.
VanDusen allegedly stabbed her 51-year-old mother with a pocketknife and burned her with rubbing alcohol at her mothers home near the intersection of Melrose and Carlton avenues on February 25th.
VanDusen was granted a $200,000 cash or surety bond, which she has not yet posted.
She is currently being held in the Kalamazoo County Jail.
