BURLINGTON (WKZO-AM) — The Calhoun County Sheriff’s office says ten malnourished dogs have been seized from a home in Burlington Township.
The discovery was made in the yard on 10 1/2 Mile Road, with some of the animals so starved they ate a puppy and, possibly, a neighbor’s cat.
Investigators say they have contacted the owner of the property, who was not home when deputies detained the animals Friday.
The prosecutor is reviewing the case and is considering felony animal cruelty charges against the man, who is said to still be cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
