UNDATED (WKZO-AM) — AAA has updated its Thanksgiving travel forecast after a dip in gas prices.
Spokesperson W.D. Williams said travel figures may actually go higher than they originally predicted because gas prices have plunged in the lead-up to the holiday travel period.
“These are the lowest gas prices we’ve seen since 2007,” Williams said.
They are projecting at least 1.5 million Michiganders will travel 50 miles or more. The official travel period begins Wednesday and runs through Sunday.
Gas Prices in Kalamazoo are as low as they are anywhere in the U.S. The average price is $1.72 a gallon, according to GasBuddy.com, with some stations selling fuel for as low as $1.57.
