BATTLE CREEK, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – The City of Battle Creek has announced that Battle Creek Transit services are back as of Monday after some temporary changes, and they are continuing to hire drivers.
After about eight weeks and adding some drivers, Tele-Transit will again provide service from 5:00 a.m. until midnight, Monday through Friday.
In addition, the 3E Main-Post and 4N Capital NE bus routes will return to their own half-hour routes, leaving downtown at :15 and :45 minutes after the hour. These routes have been combined since mid-January.
BCGo will provide Saturday service again starting this Saturday, March 12.
Those interested in being a Transit driver can get more job details and apply at battlecreekmi.gov/jobs.
Operator/driver positions start at $19.05 per hour, with no experience necessary, and drivers will be trained to get their commercial driver’s license.
Next week is the one-year anniversary of the on-demand BCGo pilot, which operates Calhoun County-wide. Officials plan to run that service as long as the grant funds last which is anticipated will take place in late May or early June. The city has applied for a grant extension to keep BCGo going.
