WILTON, CONN. (WKZO-AM) — A recall has been issued by the Blue Buffalo company, warning dog owners that they may need to toss out a chew bone because of possible Salmonella contamination.
The product is called “Cub Size Wilderness Wild Chew Bones.”
Anyone who may have purchased one of the bones is urged to seal them in a plastic bag and toss them in the trash. Then, before they do anything else, they should wash their hands.
Salmonella bacteria can make pets sick if they chew on the bones. It can also make dog owners sick if they handle them.
The bones were sold at PetSmart stores in Michigan, California, Kansas, Minnesota, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, and Washington. They have an expiration date of Nov. 4, 2017.
