EAST LANSING (WKZO-AM) — An estimated 2,000 students filled the streets outside Cedar Village in East Lansing following Michigan State’s last-minute College Football Playoff-clinching win in the Big Ten Championship Game over Iowa.
Police let the celebration continue for a while until students began setting off fireworks, torching dumpsters and reportedly set a large stuffed animal on fire.
According to the East Lansing Police Department, eight arrests were made by officers who appeared on horseback and in riot gear to put an end to the spontaneous celebration Saturday evening.
There were 13 fires but no injuries reported.
