ST. JOSEPH (WKZO-AM) — A 49-year-old southwest Michigan man who let his drunken girlfriend freeze to death on an unheated porch at the couple’s home on East Empire Avenue in Benton Township last February will spend between 19 months and 15 years in prison.
Charles Campbell Jr. apologized for the death of 32-year-old Tamika Hurd during his sentencing in a St. Joseph courtroom Monday.
Investigators say Hill had just taken a shower when she was forced outside, where temperatures were in the 20s.
She was found dead the next morning.
