KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — A man has been treated and released from a hospital after being attacked by thieves north of West Main Street.
It happened at around 3 a.m. Wednesday.
Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s deputies say a man looked out his apartment window on Vintage Lane because he heard a car alarm. He spotted two males next to the car, and decided to go outside to investigate.
When they ran, he gave chase, catching one of the suspects and knocking him to the ground. In the process of trying to subdue the suspected thief, he was stabbed and clubbed over the head with a flashlight.
The two robbers got away.
Deputies are reminding citizens that they may be taking unnecessary risks if they confront criminals in the act. They say the best approach is to call 911, then maintain observation of the suspects but from a distance.
