KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — United Airlines has resumed flights out of Kalamazoo-Battle Creek International Airport.
Last summer, the airline announced it would be offering three flights daily to and from their hub in Chicago using 50-seat commuter planes.
It’s been six years since the last United flight flew out of Kalamazoo. The service was canceled because of the downturn in the general economy.
The economy has recovered, as has business travel.
The passengers on board the first flight out Wednesday were awarded with small gifts as they embarked.
United will be competing directly with American in Kalamazoo, which also has daily flights from Kalamazoo to Chicago.
Delta also flies out of Kalamazoo, but to their hubs in Detroit and Minneapolis.
