PENNFIELD TOWNSHIP (WKZO-AM) — Grief counselors will be on hand Friday at Pennfield High School after two students were killed in a wreck.
Investigators say a car driven by Sabrina Almaraz and Kaleigh Woodman, both juniors at PHS, struck a tree before 3 p.m. Thursday. The crash happened shortly after school let out for the day.
Calhoun County Sheriff’s deputies believe the girls were traveling at a high rate of speed when their car crested a hill on East Avenue, went out of control and slammed into a tree.
The girls, who were 16 and 17 years old, were pronounced dead at the scene.
