GULL LAKE (WKZO-AM) — School officials in Gull Lake have some work to do after a high school freshman was caught with an unloaded gun in his backpack.
It happened Thursday.
Investigators say several students were aware the 15-year-old brought the handgun to school, but only one came forward late in the morning.
The Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office was called, and the boy was escorted from class and immediately suspended, pending the outcome of expulsion hearings.
Deputies say they have no reason to believe the boy intended to harm anyone.
The boy was not arrested or charged, pending a review by the prosecutor’s office.
