BATTLE CREEK (WKZO AM/FM) – A Saturday morning accident in Calhoun County sent two people to area hospitals.
Sheriff’s deputies say that they were summoned at around 10:45 to Dickman Rd near N 32nd St, on a report of a man struck by a vehicle.
Upon arrival, they discovered a 37-year-old Coloma man had left a construction vehicle and was walking toward the back of it, when he was struck by a truck that had crossed the median lane divider.
That truck then struck a tree in a nearby field.
The Coloma man was taken to Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo and is in critical condition. The driver of the truck, a 23-year-old Emmitt Township man, was taken to Bronson Battle Creek, where his condition is not known.
The accident remains under investigation.
