HARTFORD (WKZO-AM) — Michigan State Police are calling it west Michigan’s largest-ever methamphetamine bust.
Troopers spotted a pickup truck with a cracked windshield driving along Interstate 94 near Hartford below the speed limit and pulled it over Wednesday afternoon.
The driver appeared to be under the influence, investigators said. A search of the vehicle turned up seven pounds of high-grade nearly pure crystal methamphetamine, worth possibly as much as $150,000.
The driver, 49-year-old George Yellowboy of Nebraska, reportedly told authorities that he was part of a Mexican drug ring based in Nogales that regularly transports the drug to the Midwest.
Yellowboy faces several drug counts and was ordered held on $2.5 million bond.
