ALLEGAN, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A fisherman is dead following a reported drowning in Allegan County.
Allegan City Police were called to the Marshall Street bridge over the Kalamazoo River in Allegan around 7:15 p.m. Thursday for a report of a missing person.
The family said that the man, a 26-year-old from the Hamilton area, was fishing alone in the area when they found his vehicle and fishing tackle near the river but not him.
Authorities including Michigan State Police checked the area and the Allegan County Dive and Rescue team recovered his body in 10 feet of water.
The victim’s name has not been released at this time and it’s still unclear what led up to the drowning.
