COOPER TOWNSHIP (WKZO-AM) — A downed tree that blew onto Douglas Avenue in Cooper Township flipped a pickup onto its side early Thursday, when the driver swerved to avoid the limb and hit a guardrail.
Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s deputies say a second vehicle hit the limb, which struck the wrecked pickup and pinned one of its driver’s legs under the vehicle.
While the winds howled, a second tree nearly fell on the first responders.
The pickup driver suffered serious injuries to his lower body. His current condition isn’t known. The other driver left the scene uninjured.
