KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — The victim of a shooting in a student housing complex just west of the Western Michigan University campus is fighting for his life at the Bronson Methodist Hospital critical care unit after he was assaulted in his apartment on Westbrook Street near Lafayette Avenue on Christmas.
Kalamazoo Public Safety says they received reports of shots fired from other people at the complex at about 2 p.m. Then the victim called 911, summoning assistance.
Because it was the holiday, the complex was mostly unoccupied.
KPS has released a composite drawing of one of the suspects, which is above. There may have been others involved.
The suspect is described as a male, about 5-foot-9 and 160 pound. Witnesses say he is between 20 and 28 years old with a mustache and goatee. He was wearing a white thermal long sleeve shirt, black jeans and a gray stocking cap.
We don’t know if the victim’s condition has improved after emergency surgery.
