LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A body, believed to be that of Grand Valley State University student Brendan Santo, was recovered from Red Cedar River in Lansing around 12:30 p.m. Friday afternoon, January 21.
Michigan State University Police, Public Safety and their law enforcement partners found the body 1.5 miles down river of where Santo was last seen. Police have yet to positively identify the body.
The GVSU freshman was last seen Friday, October 29th just before midnight in the area of Yakeley Hall on MSU’s campus.
According to police, Santos was with a group of friends visiting MSU when he went missing and was seen wearing grey sweatpants, a black t-shirt, black baseball cap and white converse high-top shoes.
The reward for information leading to his whereabouts had just increased from $5,000 to over $30,000.
As the search has lasted more than 80 days, police believe no foul play was involved. MSU Police, Public Safety and their law enforcement partners are expected to continue investigating the incident.
