PORTAGE (WKZO-AM) — A former teacher at Portage Central Elementary School and head coach of the boys basketball team at Portage Central High School has been charged with four counts of criminal sexual conduct.
The allegations are that he had an inappropriate sexual relationship with a female high school student. Corey McNeal, 40, resigned Dec. 18. He is due in court for a preliminary hearing a week from Wednesday.
He is accused of having a sexual relationship with a student between 16 and 18.
McNeal is free on $50,000 bond.
Portage Public Schools has issued a statement, saying McNeal was placed on administrative leave when the allegations surfaced prior to his resignation. They say the district is cooperating with authorities.
