PORTAGE (WKZO-AM) — Additional details have been released regarding the investigation into an inappropriate sexual relationship between an elementary school physical education teacher in Portage and a female high school student.
Prosecutor Jeff Getting says Corey McNeal, 40, is charged with multiple counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct for a relationship that spanned at least two months last fall. Investigators say the relationship began in September and ended in November, when the allegations surfaced.
The school district says McNeal was put on administrative leave in November and the student was transferred to another school. McNeal resigned when he was formally charged Dec. 18.
He is due in court for a conference to discuss pleas Wednesday. If no deal is reached, he will face a preliminary examination next Wednesday.
