KALAMAZOO MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A report by WWMT News 3 indicates that, despite an increase in COVID cases over the past several weeks, that trend is not being seen at the Kalamazoo Gospel Mission.
A spokesperson stated that, as the weather gets colder, more people seek shelter at the Mission…but it is not seeing an increase in the number of people having the virus.
The facility does have the ability to quarantine anyone who tests positive, but there is not a lot of space to do that.
The report explained that the lack of interaction between the homeless and the general population may be a contributing factor to the low number of cases among those at the Mission.
Mission officials did say that testing continues to take place when it is suspected a resident may have the virus.
