KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – After initially posting Winter Weather Advisory for Kalamazoo County, the National Weather Service has upgraded it to a Winter Storm Warning through 10 a.m. Friday.
Heavy snow is expected, with additional snow accumulations of four to 16 inches. Winds gusts could be as high as 45 mph. That will push wind chills below zero.
The National Weatber Service says to plan on slippery road conditions, and patchy blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility.
Snow showers, as well as gusty winds, will continue into Wednesday evening. The heaver snow showers will be during the overnight hours and even more so on Thursday. During that time, snowfall rates may reach one to two inches an hour under the heavier snow bands.
Whiteout conditions could also develop in some areas.
The heavier snow is expected west of U.S. 131.
