KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The shortage of bus drivers is taking an even bigger toll on the Kalamazoo Public Schools as kids return from Christmas Break.
The district is canceling 14 school bus routes for Wednesday.
The district has struggled with a shortage of bus drivers since the beginning of the school year. Recruitment has been going on, with paid training and bonuses being offered for new drivers.
The routes been canceled for Wednesday:
Bus 10, serving Loy Norrix, Linden Grove and Parkwood Upjohn
Bus 31, serving Kalamazoo Central and Woods Lake
Bus 33, serving Maple Street Pheonix and Prairie Ridge
Bus 39, serving Kalamazoo Central, Woodward and Northeastern
Bus 41, serving Kalamazoo Central, Edison and Woods Lake
Bus 43, serving Kalamazoo Central, Woodward and Washington
Bus 46, serving Kalamazoo Central and Prairie Ridge
Bus 57, serving Kalamazoo Central, Linden Grove and Arcadia
Bus 69, serving Loy Norrix, Linden Grove and Woods Lake
Bus 84, serving Milwood Middle and Milwood Elementary
Bus 87, serving Loy Norrix, Woodward and Washington
