KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A News Year”s Day fire at a Kalamazoo home remains under investigation.
Saturday morning at approximately 2:30 a.m. a Kalamazoo department of Public Safety officer observed smoke coming from the eaves of a residence in the 1300 block of March Street. A fire crew was dispatched while officers immediately evacuated the residents and a dog.
KDPS officials say active fire was located in the attic space and an aggressive interior fire attack quickly extinguished the fire. Fire damage appeared limited to the attic and second floor of the structure.
There were no reported injuries for the residents or fire fighters during the call for service.
The cause of the fire is unknown and currently under investigation by the Fire Marshal’s office.
