KALAMAZOO COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The mortgage of a fallen Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Deputy has been paid in full by the Tunnels to Towers Foundation.
Deputy Ryan Proxmire, a nine-year veteran, was killed during a pursuit last August and was posthumously promoted to Sergeant. He is survived by his wife and four children.
According to its official website, one activity of the Tunnels to Towers Foundation is to pay off mortgages of law enforcement officers and firefighters who lose their lives in the line of duty and leave behind family members.
Proxmire is among a total of five program recipients that were announced recently.
“These mortgage pay-offs are a part of the third annual Tunnel to Towers Foundation’s Season of Hope, which celebrates the holiday season by delivering mortgage-free homes or mortgage-payoffs to the families of America’s heroes who died in the line of duty,” officials wrote in a statement.
