ORLANDO, FLORIDA (WKZO) — The Citrus Bowl was expected to be a battle of two of the top defenses in College Football, pitting the 17th ranked Michigan Wolverines against the 19th ranked Florida Gators, and for the first quarter it held to that script.
But eventually the Wolverine offense was able to break through. Wolverine QB Jake Rudock threw for 278 yards and three touchdowns and Michigan’s defense dominated throughout, giving the Wolverines’ a 41 to 7 victory over the Gators.
Michigan had three touchdown drives of at least 70 yards and finished with 503 yards of offense against a Florida defense that entered the game ranked sixth nationally.
Leading by 10 at the half, Michigan scored on each of its first two possessions in the third quarter to take a 31-7 lead.
Michigan played without injured safety Jabrill Peppers, but still managed to hold the Gators to just 28 total yards in the second half.
Head Coach Jim Harbaugh called it the best game they played all season.
