BATTLE CREEK (WKZO-AM) — A Calhoun County man has been formally charged with first-degree home invasion for a weekend break-in at a residence on Charlotte Street in Battle Creek.
Robert Dubois, 32, will likely undergo a psychiatric exam first.
Police say he slipped in through the basement window of the targeted residence at around 4:30 a.m. Saturday.
The homeowner, a 76-year-old woman, said she awoke with a start, finding him standing in her bedroom. He told her he was “going to work,” then fled.
He was arrested after police received tips. He apparently lived near the victim.
It’s not clear if anything was taken from the home.
Bond was set at $50,000.
