COLDWATER (WTVB-AM) — Michigan State Police say a Branch County man is recovering after his pickup went into Coldwater Lake.
It happened shortly after 5 p.m. Wednesday. Troopers say Jack Faulkner, 75, was heading home southbound on Centennial Road when he drove his Ford F-150 through a stop sign at Warren Road and ended up in the lake, about 25 to 30 yards from the shoreline.
He was out of the truck in waist-deep water when MSP and Lakeland Fire Department first responders reached the scene. Several firemen in wet suits helped Faulkner wade his way to safety through the chilly water, which was covered with about an inch or two of ice.
He was taken to the Community Health Center of Branch County for treatment. He was admitted in stable condition.
Police say the crash remains under investigation, but believe a medical issue may have caused the accident.
