GRAND RAPIDS (WKZO) — The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids has declared a winter storm watch for later on today and tomorrow because of a pair of storms could cause travel problems throughout west Michigan.
Meteorologist Jared Maples says the storm currently making its way through the state is bringing with it warmer weather and rain, and that can be expected through Saturday.
But a second storm that night will bring more precipitation and a rapid change to temperatures below freezing tonight, that could dump anywhere from 2 to 7 inches on the area.
The Michigan Department of Transportation says it will be monitoring road conditions throughout the weekend. The agency is urging motorists to drive at a speed appropriate for the conditions and to be alert for black ice and slick spots.
