A 19-year-old Holland woman didn’t take long to claim a one million-dollar prize from the Michigan State Lottery. Imari Shelton made the drive to the state lottery offices in Lansing on Monday morning, less than 36 hours after the five white Powerball numbers of 16-19-32-34-57 were drawn in the multi-state game on Saturday evening.
Shelton purchased the winning ticket from the Speedway Convenience Store at Washington Avenue and 33rd Street, which also won money from the state lottery for selling the ticket.
The student said that the money will help pay for her schooling, which she hopes will include law school in her dream of becoming a lawyer, and that she does plan to purchase tickets for this coming Wednesday night’s Powerball lottery.
