ST. JOSEPH COUNTY (WKZO-AM) — A St. Joseph County woman is jailed for animal neglect after she left a six-month-old pit bull puppy outside on the coldest day of the year.
Neighbors reported the problem at Roxann Grochoske’s backyard in the 19000 block of M-60. Animal control officers quickly responded, finding the dog frozen to death.
She has been charged with animal neglect and is being held on $2,000 bond.
A veterinarian said the animal had been an indoor dog and was not acclimated to the cold.
A second pit bull was removed from the home by animal control.
