BATTLE CREEK (WKZO-AM) — A 13-year-old girl from Battle Creek has been charged with felonious assault for stabbing a 12-year-old boy on a school bus with a pencil.
The children were on the way home from school Thursday when the stabbing occurred on Spring Street near Carl Avenue.
Investigators say the girl had been bullied and teased and following a vulgar remark. She responded by swinging a pencil toward the boy, striking his neck.
The injury was said to be minor. The child was treated and released at a local emergency room.
The boy and girl were released to the custody of their parents. Both may still face suspension, or possibly expulsion, following school hearings.
