KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Organizers aren’t expecting chilly, 30-degree weather to deter people from spooning down bowls of Kalamazoo’s best chili during the city’s 10th-annual downtown chili cook-off this weekend.
Cook-off committee member Brandy Gulley says you don’t even have to walk to visit the 41 restaurants and businesses vying for bragging rights.
“This year, we have the addition of two trolleys to help get people around,” Gulley said.
She said there’s going to be something for every palate. Past entries have included alligator and wild boar, along with more-traditional beef-and-bean bowls.
“Everybody just does such an amazing job just thinking out the of the box and adding unique proteins,” Gulley said.
It runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. The event formally kicks off Kalamazoo Restaurant Week.
