KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — A Hastings woman who allegedly shot and killed another woman on the driveway of her home in Portage because she was dating her ex-boyfriend, has been found competent to stand trial for murder.
State forensic psychiatrists say 43-year-old Theresa Petto is at least sane enough to understand the charges she faces and aid in her own defense.
The shooting in June of 25-year-old Rachel Drafta last year came four years to the day after the death of Petto’s three week-old-infant. The child was fathered by the man who had dated them both.
Hastings police are now questioning Petto’s role in the infant’s death.
