BATTLE CREEK (WKZO-AM) — Two men are jailed after being tracked down following a home invasion in the 12000 block of Minges South Road in Battle Creek early Saturday morning.
A woman was rattled out of bed by unusual noises and saw her car being driven away from her home and her safe sitting in the driveway. An alert was put out for the stolen car, which was spotted parked at a restaurant on Capital Avenue Southwest.
One man was arrested and some stolen items recovered, but a second suspect got away in another car. That vehicle was spotted about an hour later. The driver arrested after drugs, burglary tools and some stolen items were found in that car.
By morning, two other car burglaries were reported and linked to the two suspects.
Because the home they broke into on Minges South Road was occupied at the time, they could be charged with first-degree home invasion, which carries stiffer penalties.
