LANSING (WKZO-AM) — With the Michigan primary about a month away, a new poll suggests Donald Trump has had his lead cut in Michigan and Rubio and Cruz are on the rise following strong showings in Iowa.
Different polls can have vastly different results depending on their methodologies, but the two most-recent polls conducted in Michigan show Trump’s numbers dropping from 51 percent before Iowa to 36 percent after Iowa.
A Mitchell Research Poll done nearly two weeks ago for Fox 2 in Detroit had Ted Cruz at 15 percent and Marco Rubio at 12 percent. A new Target Insyght poll released Friday by Inside Michigan Politics has them both tied at 21 percent. All the other Republican candidates were in single digits.
While the two polls suggested movement on the Republican side, they showed little movement on the Democratic side with Hillary Clinton enjoying a nearly two-to-one lead over Bernie Sanders in both polls.
The New Hampshire primary is Tuesday. The Michigan primary is March 8.
Monday is the last day to register if you want to vote in the primary and are not currently registered to vote in elections.
